So for those wondering What Is the Best Safari in Tanzania, we have the answers for you. It is without doubt the all-encompassing Serengeti which is the key destination for all Tanzania Safaris. Your Tanzania Safari Tours experience would be incomplete without visiting Serengeti National Park. The world’s best wilderness and migratory birds are known to be present in the park. One of the biggest river basin areas in Africa is the Grumeti region and the Northern part of Serengeti National Park.
The most important among the Tanzania Safari Faq’s is the price of these safaris. So if you are still pondering How Much a Tanzania Safari Costs, we have the right estimates for you. The Tanzania Safari Cost starts at USD 450 and ranges up to USD 1650. The factors that affect the cost are:
- The time of year you travel, as peak seasons have higher costs
- The level of comfort you prefer at accommodations such as luxury safaris is more expensive than a budget safari
- Whether you drive or fly between destinations as the domestic flight charges will be applied
- Extra activities – like hot-air ballooning, spa treatments and cultural tours – that you’d like to add on.
Not to mention the answer to What Is The Best Time Of Year To Visit Tanzania is all year round. Tanzania is incredible to visit throughout the year. Many visitors prefer visiting in the warm dry season, which is the Best Time To Visit Tanzania and the cold dry season from June to October and from January to March. A great many people evade the stormy long periods of April, May, and November. When you want the transfers and safari destinations all to yourself, it is better to visit in the off-season like the monsoon season.
Now that you have decided on your Tanzania Safari you must be doubtful about How Do I Plan a Safari in Tanzania? Firstly you can choose from our various proposed Camping Safari, Lodge Safari and Safari & Zanzibar packages followed by finalising the dates of the tour. If you have chosen private safaris, we take the responsibility of organising them. Only you and your travel partner(s) will be on the tour and the transfers. You can contact us for more information regarding your trip and we will proceed with bookings and safari preparations for you.
Plan Your Safari Here
We only use 4 x4 safari vehicles, either Land cruisers for safaris. All our vehicles have pop up roof for excellent sightseeing and photography. All our vehicles are also fitted with VHF radios for communication, and all have seat belts. We offer cold water in the vehicles throughout the safari.
Travelling with so much money in your pocket in Africa is not the best idea and Tanzania is no exception. We normally recommend that you pay your invoice by money transfer at least 14 days before arrival, and if you need to settle your balance in cash, then it is advisable to pay as soon as you arrive. You will however need some money in Cash either in small USD denominations or Tanzania Shillings while in Tanzania and Kenya Shillings while in Kenya. These will be handy for settling extra bills in lodges ad hotels as well as tipping in the same places. Generally The Us Dollar is widely accepted allover East Africa. Travelers’ checks can also be cashed in most forex bureaus though they are offered a relatively low rate.
Booking a safari in well in advance is always advisable so as to make sure everything is in place to the finer details before your safari starts. It not only ensures that your safari goes well without hitches but also it helps save some money in case hotels revise rates may be for the preceding year. Once a tour is booked and a down payment made; any price rates hikes that may arise for example in Hotels/lodges do not affect the price your tour cost.
Children are allowed to do a safari. Children do enjoy safaris a lot and we at Oserok Trips will always design itineraries specially made for families on request. Although there are some few lodges/tented camps that have restrictions to admission of children to children less than 7 years, most accommodation properties in and around national parks allow Children. Some of them are so welcoming to children that they have family rooms. Properties that do not have family rooms will always be very happy to host families in rooms with interconnecting doors or rooms next to each other. Anytime you need a safari for you and your family, please contact us.
You will require a passport valid for at least six months after your date of entry. If you are arriving from a country in which Yellow Fever is endemic (such as Kenya), you will require an immunization certificate or health card.
Citizens of the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, and most countries in the EU, need a tourist visa to enter Tanzania. Application details and forms can be found on Tanzanian Embassy web sites.
As with all visa matters — contact your local Tanzanian Embassy for the latest information
It is best to drink bottled water when traveling through Tanzania – numerous brands are widely available and served in all restaurants and lodges. Steer clear of ice, raw vegetables, and salads when eating at street restaurants.
High-end lodges and restaurants will clean their produce in antiseptic solution, but to be on the safe side, fruit and vegetables should always be washed and peeled. Try to avoid eating in empty restaurants – the food may have been sitting out for some time – and order your meat well done. On the coast, seafood and fish are usually fresh, but make sure everything is well-cooked.
Not all camps/lodges in Tanzania have mosquito nets. It all depends on their individual location, i.e. altitude, near open water, etc.
Also, much of the accommodations are tented camps. These tents tend to be tightly sealed and zipped tight avoiding the need for mosquito netting. Furthermore, at most camps/lodges, while you enjoy dinner, housekeeping will complete a turndown service and spray the rooms with mosquito repellent. Regardless of mosquito netting, you should always bring insect repellent with DEET, trousers/slacks, sports/long sleeved shirt and/or blouse and dress/skirt for ladies.
We are sure you’ll feel very safe here, we’re sure you’ll feel very welcome. As with everywhere else in the world, just use a bit of common sense, don’t flaunt any valuables and you can enjoy the natural wonders, the culture and the people of Tanzania.
Whilst most of our visitors will come to Tanzania for our wildlife experiences, they often leave with a much wider and richer experience than they could have ever expected. Why? Part of that is due to our friendly, welcoming, colourful people. Tanzanians are a true mix of many ethnicities, different religious beliefs and all live together in harmony in what is one of the African continent’s safest destinations.
For cash, we advise you to bring US Dollars with you from home, as these are accepted in most places.
If however you do need to withdraw cash while in Tanzania, then there are several ATM machines in Arusha City and these are where you should withdraw any additional cash before your safari or trek begins. Please note that you cannot withdraw US Dollars from ATM Machines, and there is a maximum limit of 400,000TSHS which is less than 200 USD. So bear that in mind when withdrawing cash.
Please also note that in many small towns or beach hotels there are no ATM machines, so you should have sufficient cash before you depart for remote areas or the beach.
If you are booking with Oserok Trips, then your package will include all accommodation, park fees, meals and game drives if on safari.
It will also include your transfers between Arusha and Kilimanjaro International Airport, however if you have chosen a different airport to arrive at then this will not be included.
You will need to include money for international flights, domestic flights (unless agreed with us as part of your programme), insurance, tips for your driver-guide or staff at your accommodations, drinks purchased at hotels/bars/lodges/tented camps, laundry services, phone calls, any additional activities, visas or any shopping. As these will not be included in your package.
Every guest has different spending habits, so we cannot advise as to how much you will need. You should budget, taking into account the above items and the length of your safari trip.
Prices are usually based on room-sharing however if you are looking to have a room to yourself, we can advise you on a single supplement cost.
Prior to booking please let us know what your accommodation preference is so we can ensure we incorporate this into the accommodation options.
