The Oserok Way

Description

This package allows you to explore all major National parks of the popular Northern Circuit. Apart from Serengeti National Park and the great Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you will also visit Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Parks. You will appreciate swamp life and savannah plains in the wilderness, huge herds of elephants and a crater full of game.

Starting off your tour at Moshi or Arusha, you’ll first visit Tarangire National Park. Next off to the vast plains of Serengeti National Park and pristine wilderness of Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Lastly to Lake Manyara National Park where the lake is the accommodating place of hundreds of bird species.

Day 1 Moshi/Arusha to Tarangire National Park

In the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel to start your safari to Tarangire National Park. The park is roughly the size of Luxemburg and covers an area of about 2,600 square kilometres. Bush savannah, seasonal swamps and giant baobab trees make up the landscape of this nature reserve and the park is probably one of the best places in East Africa to see elephants. Not only they are found in thousands but also, seem to be more accustomed to the vehicles, and for this you can be closer to these gigantic animals. It is not only the elephants rather a varied number of animals such as to Maasai giraffes, various gazelles, antelopes, buffaloes, lions, leopards, baboons and more than 500 types of birds’ species make this the one stop solution for both the bird and animal lovers. After an extensive game drive, you will leave the park in the late afternoon and drive to the lodge for your overnight stay.

Day 2 Tarangire Area to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you will travel from the Tarangire Area to the lush highlands where crops such as wheat, corn and coffee are grown. Travelling through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you might stop for a breath-taking view over the Ngorongoro Crater before you continue to Serengeti National Park. The vast savannah of Serengeti that stretches to the horizon teeming with the wild animals would enthral to any of the visitors visiting this park. In Maasai language, Serengeti means “endless plains” and the park justifies its name bizarre rock formations dot the grassy landscape where predators roam. Blue wildebeests, Thomson’s gazelles, zebras and buffaloes are on the vicinity. Through the high and open roof of the safari vehicle you will be able to enjoy the diversified habitats and landscapes of the park. You will arrive in the Seronera Valley for an evening meal and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 3 Serengeti National Park

The entire day is dedicated to game viewing in Serengeti National Park. The areas that you will visit will depend upon where the migrating herds are to be found. Predators usually follow closely behind the trekking animals. During the short rainy season in November and December the herds move from the hills in the north to the plains in the south. During the longer rainy season from April to June they return up north. As the migration depends upon the yearly rains, the location of the herds might vary from year to year but guide will know where to see them best. You will spend another night at the same lodge.

Day 4 Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After breakfast, you will join another game drive in the Serengeti National Park and you might spot animals you haven’t seen during the last two days. The Serengeti is also home to the “Big Five” – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard and today you might be able to tick off all the members of this group. After lunch at a picnic site, you will drive in the direction of the Ngorongoro Crater and as soon as you reach the edge of the crater, the caldera opens up before you. This approximate 20km wide crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to over 25,000 animals. You will drive to the lodge from where you can witness the sun set over the crater.

Day 5 Ngorongoro Crater to Lake Manyara Area

Rise and shine! After breakfast at day break you drive down into the crater. Inside the world’s biggest caldera, you will see a diversity of wildlife ranging from black rhinos, Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles, lions and leopards, to elephants and mountain reedbucks in the forests on the slopes. You might also see buffaloes, spotted hyenas and some of the more than 500 bird species of the area. After an extensive game drive and a picnic lunch you will leave the crater in the afternoon to travel back to the lodge.

Day 6 Lake Manyara National Park to Moshi/Arusha

The small Lake Manyara National Park is home to over 400 bird species, primate-filled forests and grassy plains. A large area of the park is covered by the alkaline Lake Manyara, which is home to colonies of flamingos and other water birds. Apart from giraffes, hippos, wildebeests and impalas on the grassy plains, you might see lions lounging in the trees and elephants feeding on the acacias in the woodlands. While the forest near the lake is filled with noisy troops of blue monkeys, extended baboon families hang around the roads. After an intensive game drive, you will have lunch and then return to Moshi/Arusha in the late afternoon.

Serengeti safari without the rush
It was a 7 day family safari with us and our 2 adult children. We all had a fantastic time helped by Alpha and Josephete being excellent driver and guides. They seemed to be able to predict where animals were heading and be there. Rather than using the radio and following the crowd, we took it slow and saw so many more animals and birds that we would have otherwise missed. We stopped for a bird, saw several others, then realised we were right next to 6 dik diks that were almost invisible in the scrub. We saw 2 crossing events and other unexpected interactions like an elephant chasing off 3 lions and elephant baby’s cavorting and playing with each other. We saw a serval cat and followed it for a while then saw it pounce and catch dinner. Circle of life in action. The daughters got right into bird spotting and both the guides were very knowledgeable and helpful and quick with identifying, while not being worried to contradict and make suggestions. Both of them were conscientious and sensitive to our needs on the whole safari and we had a wonderful time. I would recommend them to anyone wanting a great safari experience.

We had an incredible family trip to Marangu waterfalls and a safari in Tarangire National Park, and we couldn’t have asked for a better guide than Alpha. From the very beginning, Alpha took the time to understand what we wanted from our trip. Rather than pushing a particular itinerary, he gave us all the information we needed, explained our options, and helped us choose what would work best for our family and the time we had. Throughout the trip, he embodied the warmth, kindness, and hospitality of the Tanzanian people. His knowledge of the wildlife, culture, plants and local area made every part of the journey more meaningful. He is Masai after all!). He welcomed our endless questions, never rushed us, and always made sure we had plenty of time to enjoy each stop and capture great photos from the best locations. On safari, Alpha and his team were exceptional. Their ability to spot wildlife was incredible- they noticed animals we would never have seen on our own. An unforgettable Kilimanjaro trip
We chose Oserok Trips for our 7-day hike in Kilimanjaro. We wanted to do this adventure with a local company and we were not disappointed. The guides from Oserok, Francis and Daniel, were great as was the rest of the team who had a great time with us. Hiking on Mount Kilimanjaro

Had a great day
Together with my daughter we did trips and tour to the waterfall with Alpha van Oserok, with lunch at a Chagga tribe and with a coffee ceremony. Alpha picked us up at our hotel and together we walked to the waterfall. Along the way he explained a lot about all the plants, trees and animals that could be seen there. Trip of a lifetime!
Thank you Alfa!! We cannot say enough about our incredible Tanzania adventure safari!! Alfa curated an 8-day safari to include a first day visit to the hot springs and local eatery, then 6 days on safari to Tarangire, Ngorongoro, Serengeti and Mayanara, and a visit with a bush tribe and an iron working tribe. The lodgings and food were lovely and the weather was perfect! It was an amazing cultural experience for our family as well as a stunning photo safari in this lovely country. We saw the Big 5 in close proximity and countless other animals. Alfa and his driver Renatos were knowledgeable, attentive, engaging and professional….they made the trip extra special and we are extremely grateful for the memories we made. Perfect activity, amazing tour leaders
We were a group of 5 people with just half-day until leave Moshi. We made a walking tour in Rau Forest. We enjoy a lot lesrnig about nature and species (birds, monkeys, ancient trees). This place is not very touristy yet, but we went to it thanks to the agency that knows unknown places
We also did our tour to Lake Chala with the Oseroktrips agency and our guide was Alfa. I was amazed by this walk full of incredible views. We always walked at our own pace and always felt safe. Beautiful views and wonderful memories will live in our hearts
